How to make your home a smart home

  • How to make your home a smart home:

One of the main reasons I created TechSmartiProo was to help simplify all this new emerging technology which can turn your house into a smart home.

I found there was a ton of new products coming to market and no one was helping the consumer determine which were the right ones for their home. They also weren't helping consumers figure out where to start to build a smart home or even add a few connected devices which could help you save money or provide protection from unwanted visitors.
Therefore, I am writing this article to help you learn where to start and how to build the right smart home system for your house.

Below you will find links to our articles which will be a valuable resource for you prior to starting to build or while you are building your new connected home.

  1. First, Choose Your Assistant:

  • Wink Hub 2:

The Wink Hub 2 works with devices that use Z-Wave, Zigbee, Lutron Clear Connect, Kidde, Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi. It is also for the future. That includes just about everything in the smart home spectrum, from Philips Hue lighting and the Netgear Arlo camera, to Google Home. It's the most reliable, widely supported hub we've tested.

GET IT ON AMAZON..

  • Brilliant Control:

The Brilliant Control is a unique wall switch that uses Wi-Fi to connect to and control various smart devices in your home. It has a 5-inch color touch screen with user-friendly button controls that let you play music, control lighting, set thermostat temperatures, and see who is at your door, among other things. It works with many popular smart home platforms including Ecobee, Nest, Philips Hue, Ring, and Sonos, and it has built-in Amazon Alexa voice support that allows it to do almost everything an Echo device can do. It's fairly pricey and requires wiring knowledge to install, but it's a smart addition to a high-tech home.

2. smart speaker: It'll serve as your smart home's command center:

  • Amazon Echo Dot:

Every smart speaker is powered by a smart assistant, and usually, these speaker also come with an app that acts as a hub of sorts. You can use the app to register and access your other smart-home devices, so you can control them all with voice commands - via your speaker - instead of needing to visit individual apps.

Amazon's Echo speakers (powered by Alexa) paved the way, and Amazon sells Echo devices in all shapes and sizes, making it the most versatile family of the bunch.

3. Smart lighting. Rig a whole room with smart lights:

  • Philips Hue:

The Philips Hue system is one of our favorites for turning an ordinary room into one that can really fit any mood. The hub just needs to connect to Wi-Fi and then all the bulbs can be programmed to your heart's content via smartphone.

  • Temperature. Smart Thermostat:

Ecobee4 smart thermostat really is a cut above other popular touch-screen models. Just ask it to adjust the temperature-no fiddling with your smart home.

4. Smart plugs can make (almost) anything smarter:

  • WEMO Mini Smart Plug:

It's an adapter that turns your simple appliances into smart appliances. The smart plug uses WiFi to give you control of the device from anywhere, via an app.
WeMo is great if your house is running on Alexa or Google Assistant, but if you're a Siri household, iDevices might be the way to go.

5. Smart home-security:

  • The Ring smart video doorbell Ring:

When the doorbell rings, your phone calls you with video. You can answer to talk or ignore the call completely, and if the app is synced to a smart lock - a deadbolt controlled via app, or with a smart speaker using a PIN number that you say aloud - you can even let them in. The most popular smart doorbells use motion sensors to notify you when someone's at your door and let you replay footage.
